Okay, my friends...you all know by now that I'm one of the biggest burlesque fans out there, so forgive me for being negative...but...this movie really looks sucky. Cher is unbelievable, and I do mean un-believable...Stanley Tucci is out of his element, Kristen Bell...not sure yet...and as for Christina Aguilera...well, she probably shouldn't quit her day job, that's all I'm sayin'.
No hard feelings! I admit I'll go out and see this piece anyway, if only just to see Cher, because I really do love Cher and most of her movies, too...unfortunately, I suspect from the looks of the trailer that they've patched together scripts from every kid-from-small-town + city-lights = dreams-come-true movie ever made, found the latest onstage trend, i.e. burlesque, paid a few already overpaid celebrities to add a little pizzazz to yet another trite script...and called it good. Hmmph! Cher should know better!
Listen, friends...if you are truly curious about the 'Neo-Burlesque' scene and what discovering the world of burlesque is like, look no further than *A Wink and A Smile* by Seattle filmmaker Deirdre Timmons...you can even rent it today on Netflix! Deirdre has experienced for herself the thrills and challenges of being on the burlesque stage.
If you want to see Hollywood's (and This Guy's) idea of what discovering the world of burlesque is like, then go see the movie they call *Burlesque*! Chances are it could be better than I predict...but don't say I didn't warn you.

Two Years Ago...

Flashback: October 13, 2007...Miss Indigo Blue's Academy of Burlesque presents its Fall 2007 graduating class! But this particular class is unlike any other previously presented to the public...ohhh, yes!...because this time movie cameras are rolling throughout the show, capturing each student's performance for posterity ~ footage for a new documentary called A Wink and A Smile by Seattle filmmaker Deirdre Allen Timmons.
One student stands out among the other eager young, nubile women...not because of her silly pink wig...but because she's so-o-o-o much older than the rest...and can you guess who that wacky old bag is?? Why, yes, friends...that is indeed yours truly...in my previous incarnation, of course, just getting used to being fabulous 24/7...and my, my...what a few burlesque classes and an abundance of rhinestones, sequins and false lashes will do for a girl!

Alas, although stripping to enthusiastic hoots and hollers can be highly exhilarating, I've since decided to leave that activity to those eager young, nubile darlings. As for me, I've channeled and embraced my inner diva...and I'm holding on for dear life!
So, two years after that fateful commencement ceremony, I'm proud and excited to tell you that Wink will be coming out on DVD November 19 for all the world to see! Would you like to pre-order your copy? They're only $19.99 if you do! Click any of my Wink links here and you'll be magically transported to the website where you can watch clips and place your order! xoxo

Souvenirs from Hollywood
Hello, darlings!
Your pal Gams is back from her whirlwind trip to fabulous Hollywood, CA! As you know, I flew down for Friday night's premiere of *A Wink and A Smile* and was lucky enough to get to perform live after the screening! It was very impromptu and a pleasant surprise for the audience, who was just terrific! Thank you, Hollywood! And if you are in the LA area, you can still head to Laemmle's Sunset 5 and catch *Wink* during this week's exclusive engagement!
(btw, thanks to the folks at Laemmle's, who were extremely accomodating)

I met glamorous and interesting people, partied at Bar Marmont, lounged around the pool at the Standard Hotel, drank champagne and mingled with the rich and famous at the exclusive adult toy and lingerie shop, Coco de Mer. I spent one entire afternoon drifting around the wonderful Hollywood Museum, where I drooled over vintage makeup, costumes and props from old Hollywood...my only regret is that they didn't allow cameras, but still, it was so worth the $12 price of admission! Of course I wandered around Hollywood Boulevard and picked my future star in the Walk of Fame, captured a few of my favorite stars' stars, wandered around Grauman's Chinese Theatre and had a burger and shake at Mel's. Here are a few souvenirs for you...love, Gams

Floity Yitto Boidies

Yes, I'm one of 'em...a flirty little birdy, that is...which is one of the reasons I picked the name Panache! for my original burlesque name...and I just came across the most wonderful collection of terms used for groups of birds...how about a *charm* or a *trembling* of finches...a *bouquet*, a *glittering* or a *shimmer* of hummingbirds (so glamorous!)...a *band*, *cast*, *party*, or *scold* of jays (party animals, obviously!)...a *worm* of robins (how appropriate!)...or, my favorite...a *slurp* of sapsuckers?? Alas, there's only one of my kind of bird around. Probably a good thing.

A Wink and A Smile

Talk about glamour! Guess what, my darlingest of darlings? I'm preparing for tonite's Gala Opening Celebration of the best documentary on earth, "A Wink and A Smile", produced and directed by Deirdre Timmons http://www.winkthemovie.com/ This is the kind of shit I live for: champagne, paparazzi, and enough glitter to cover the earth!
Here's a pic of me and one of my many fans! As you can see, I'm an absolute vision in my *Schiaparelli Pink* tuxedo & tails, which includes a break-away vest! And how do you like my oh-so-perky tophat? huh? huh? Anyway, when I perform my version of "Puttin' on the Ritz" --"Pushin' Up My Tits" -- at the end, I pull the ripcords on the vest to reveal pink sequinned pasties (is it my imagination, or do they sort of look areola-like? heh. guess you'll just have to use your imagination!) Anyway, you can bet I'll be having a wonderful time and wishing you were there, my friends...see you in Hollywood!
Love, Gams
