BurlyQ Princesses

I don't think Walt Disney had a mind as dirty as mine...or yours. I have a feeling Walt's mind was probably filled with colorful, lovable forest creatures, virgins, heroes, rainbows and happy endings......hey, NOT THAT KIND OF HAPPY ENDING! Stop it! You know what I mean.

But these depictions of the fair, virginal Disney Princesses by artist MADHANZ prove that some people may have tended...possibly since childhood...to look at Disney's fair, virginal Princesses in a more...imaginative way! I love these with all my heart!!

Star of the Week

Who doesn't adore Gloria Swanson? From her earliest days in silents, to later years on TV, she was always larger than life...dripping with jewels and furs...oozing with glamour! Did you know she possesses not one, but two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? I snapped the television one, as well as her hand and footprints in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

According to Annette Tapert's book, The Power of Glamour, at the top of her career, Gloria lived a lavish lifestyle in a twenty-two room mansion where...She performed her daily toilette in a black marble bathroom with a golden tub...she was chauffered about in a leopard-upholstered Lancia.

Apparently, once silent pictures made way for talkies, everyone was surprised to find that Gloria also had a lovely singing voice! In this extremely cute clip from the 1933 film, A Perfect Understanding, she's making her move on a dashing young Laurence Olivier, and although she's lip-sync-ing here, Gloria actually did make the recording of this tune, "I Love You So Much I Hate You". Enjoy! xo

Star of the Week!

I guess I already mentioned that two favorite parts of my trip to Hollywood were wandering through the amazing Hollywood Museum and wandering up and down the Walk of Fame, looking for my favorite stars. Sadly, I had so little time to spend, and there were so many distractions, that I wasn't able to find all my favorites, but I did find a few special ones...so I thought I'd feature each of them with an accompanying video.

This week's star is a lovely, lovable lady from my town, good ol' Seattle. It's said that way back when, at the start of her career, she performed at several local vaudeville theatres, including the Columbia City Theatre, where I myself had the pleasure of performing a couple years back. Imagine! Me, on that historic stage...what a thrill! Anyway, here she is, that Empress of Ecdysiasts, Miss Gypsy Rose Lee!

Souvenirs from Hollywood

Hello, darlings!
Your pal Gams is back from her whirlwind trip to fabulous Hollywood, CA! As you know, I flew down for Friday night's premiere of *A Wink and A Smile* and was lucky enough to get to perform live after the screening! It was very impromptu and a pleasant surprise for the audience, who was just terrific! Thank you, Hollywood! And if you are in the LA area, you can still head to Laemmle's Sunset 5 and catch *Wink* during this week's exclusive engagement!
(btw, thanks to the folks at Laemmle's, who were extremely accomodating)

I met glamorous and interesting people, partied at Bar Marmont, lounged around the pool at the Standard Hotel, drank champagne and mingled with the rich and famous at the exclusive adult toy and lingerie shop, Coco de Mer. I spent one entire afternoon drifting around the wonderful Hollywood Museum, where I drooled over vintage makeup, costumes and props from old Hollywood...my only regret is that they didn't allow cameras, but still, it was so worth the $12 price of admission! Of course I wandered around Hollywood Boulevard and picked my future star in the Walk of Fame, captured a few of my favorite stars' stars, wandered around Grauman's Chinese Theatre and had a burger and shake at Mel's. Here are a few souvenirs for you...love, Gams
