I hope all my darlings had a wonderfully spooky Halloween!
I didn't do much on the 31st, but I did have fun hosting a Dia de los Muertos celebration the following night.
Not sure what to wear on such an occasion, I threw together a little red-and-black lingerie with a pompom'd tutu to make a dress of sorts...then I added black stockings, boots and, of course, my beloved Belltown Betty jean jacket with its pink skull design!
But the pièce de résistance was my floral headpiece!
This was sooooo easy, I made it in well under an hour...not counting the part where I had to drive to two different craft stores to find the kind of silk roses I was searching for.
I picked three of 'em...two red and one pink...then, with the help of my reliable ol' pal, Glu Gunn, I arranged them into a little bouquet. I added a leaf or two, then made a backing by covering a small circular piece of buckram with a scrap of fuzzy black fabric I had laying around. This hid all the messy bits of glue and stuff...then I attached an elastic band to keep it in place among my golden curls...
It can be worn two ways, with either the two red roses or the pink one in front. Flirty and fabulous!!

Craft-O-Gasm!
Boy, have I been crafting my ass off lately! I guess it's not enough that I have two costumes to design and complete within the next few weeks..! Just the same, I was recently inspired to go through all my old beading supplies and unfinished projects to reuse, recycle and restring a few bits o' bijoux. They turned out so well that I wanted to share their cuteness with you!
First up is a little somethin' I like to call Mardi Gras...a colorful feather fascinator with matching drop earrings. I'm crazy nuts about that bright blue, aren't you? And I love how the two blue lampworked beads look with the tiny rough-cut glass beads! I used more of them to make a centerpiece for my fascinator, and if you could see the back, you'd see a simple hair comb, attached with a glue gun...easy peasy! In fact, all this stuff is e-z to make...why not learn how to create your own fascinating fascinator?

This red set, Bourbon Street, is so-o-o-o elegant! Here I used an old piece of lace, a vintage black velvet button, and a variety of red feathers to create a fan shape. Then I made three earrings from pieces of old jewelry and attached one to the bottom of the fascinator...don't you love those sterling silver dangle-y things?? They look very cute when they all do their dangling together! Want to make your own drop earrings? So simple...the hardest part is deciding which beads to choose!

Last, but certainly not least, is this I Love Paris pin made from a set of themed plastic findings, feather fluffs and a couple loose vintage rhinestones, all glued onto a big ol' black button. A few black beads and feathered Paris button swing freely from the bottom edge...joli, n'est-ce pas? All I have to do is put a pin-back on it and it'll be ready to go on my favorite jacket! I saw some New York themed findings too, so I think I'll make another one of these aysap!

Alright already...that's enough goofing around! What am I thinking?? I've got two costumes to design and complete within the next few weeks, for cryin' out loud!
